The Europe project was born with the intent of addressing the challenges it faces. Environmental emergencies, structural weaknesses in the economy, migration flows, various protectionist and isolationist temptations. Among these, the fundamental role is played by transformations and changes, especially the constantly increasing energy demand and the decrease in supplies due to total dependence on non-EU countries.
The problems related to the economic situation and unemployment are clearly very worrying and urgent.
However, the feeling we perceive from these interventions is that of a continuous attempt to fix the constantly opening gaps. There is a clear sense of a lack of vision and also a total absence of social and technological analysis.
It is clear to everyone that the loss of human capital due to a collapse of trust in institutions and all centralized apparatus, devoid of real control, is leading to a deficit of human relationships. These are essential and fundamental for creating conditions of prosperity, cultural and commercial exchange.
In short, we are sailing blindly. Digital technology is radically changing reality and our way of life. The primary and fundamental consequence is that we too are changing. We are adapting to an environment that we are building to fit machines rather than ourselves.
I believe it is fundamental and a priority today to take a moment to assess the situation. It is no longer procrastinable to analyze at what point of anthropological and social evolution we are. It is essential to have an awareness of the historical moment and the reality we are living. This is instrumental in then determining objectives. To understand which path to take. To correctly indicate the direction to take.
Centralized systems and their ability to store data, transform it into information and then better address the future are now in a very serious crisis. They worked very well and brought us to this level of evolution and prosperity. We have won many challenges thanks to this system: famines, continuous and perpetual wars, exposure to climate phenomena, diseases, etc.
Now we must change perspective. Aim for other objectives, even more ambitious ones. For example, individual and social well-being. Without ifs and buts.
In all this, technology can give us a great hand. But on one condition: it must be functional and at the service of man. It must be the means, not the ultimate goal of our actions and decisions.
It is necessary to have a human project and determine its objectives, we must bring the focus back to the main concept: man first of all.
We start from the assumption that technology is at the service of man and not the other way around.
The internet has changed the existence of us human beings, revolutionizing the system of information consumption, modifying the concept of space and time. The changed management of the latter has had an important impact on our psycho-physical well-being.
But progress never stops, and that is precisely why Europe is at a turning point in its history today.
One of these digital technologies, Blockchain, has all the requirements to lead us to a true social revolution, capable of creating new ontologies and, with them, new opportunities. But above all, to restore trust.
The premises are those of overcoming the concept of centralization. With its dynamism and uniqueness applied to various infrastructures, it represents a concrete turning point in sectors such as the supply chain.
The Blockchain technology that we must look at as the positive revolution, however, is only the one that has the fundamental requirements to be such: shared governance and distributed controls. These are the elements that, if really and correctly implemented, give Blockchain the power to overcome the centralized systems that today, with the digital, have shown their limits.
I have many doubts and perplexities that a technology that is based on the overcoming of fiduciary intermediation logic can be realized by those who would be the first to suffer its revolutionary effects.
A European Blockchain aimed at overcoming the constraints and distortions of fossilized centralized systems that are entrenched in themselves is almost an oxymoron. The lamb cannot be happy that Easter is coming.
I have many doubts, both from a technological implementation point of view and from a real objective in the realization of a De-Centralized system created by those who employ all their energies and resources to perpetuate a centralized system.
Safeguarding all these aspects on a global level is essential for our system. Blockchain greatly improves cybersecurity, ensuring the immutability of data and the disappearance of the concept of data breach (violation of personal data).
Today, being informed and educated is more important than ever. The real danger is ending up in a situation of irrelevance that leads to real exclusion from social and productive dynamics.
Awareness is the only path that can lead us to a real peaceful, good, and positive revolution in our evolutionary path. But this path has the worst enemy in assuming responsibility. Perhaps we are not yet ready for this step.
Someone who makes decisions for us, for our future, for our lives, still comforts us greatly.
And we humans must adhere to the fundamental law of our existence: the law of minimum cognitive effort.
