The upheaval caused by the Wirecard case, in addition to causing the predictable negative reactions of the markets, is putting the solid certainties of financial analysts about the future of FinTech into crisis.

In reality, the trends of technological platforms, in the midst of the pandemic crisis, have inevitably increased transactions in all financial services, starting from the most used and known PayPal.

It certainly cannot be a “company incident” to stop millions of users, just as the Madoff scandal or the Lehman Brothers’ bankruptcy could not immobilize the capital of all investors.

Unfortunately, history seems to repeat itself in mistakes, albeit with different forms and dynamics, highlighting that control measures are only adapted in the phase following the opening of the “big system hole,” so evident as to be difficult to imagine.

If technology attracts capital, the same technology already has the right answers to put in place adequate controls with procedures certified by unmodifiable content, such as the use of the Blockchain system, which has quickly gained the trust of users, the main guarantee of stability in evaluating choices among multiple investment opportunities.

The same front, albeit in the opposite direction, was the use of Blockchain systems in digital lending that allowed companies to access bank credit by finalizing all stages of contractual formalization, at the conclusion of the instruction procedure.

Today’s financial instruments are revolutionizing the savings market and more generally corporate strategic choices. Once again, finance demonstrates that it anticipates the innovations that will become privileged tools in the ordinary functioning of the real economy.
