A Solana blockchain developer, known as Mikol, sustained third-degree burns after an extreme attempt to promote the meme coin TruthOrDare (DARE). Six days after the token launched on Pump.fun, Mikol doused himself with isopropyl alcohol and set off fireworks during a live stream. The event ended with Mikol engulfed in flames, while his friends struggled to extinguish them with water, unprepared for such an emergency. He is now receiving treatment at a trauma center in Miami.
After about 15 seconds of chaos, Mikol’s burns became apparent. “He’s all burnt, brother,” said a friend during the stream as Mikol writhed on the floor, being splashed with more water. Soon, they ran out of water.
“Stop recording and start helping,” another friend shouted to the person behind the camera.
The latter half of the 30-minute live stream is harrowing. Mikol screamed in pain, saying he couldn’t feel his hands and asking to be taken to the hospital.
“It burns, brother, my body burns,” he cried. His friends urged the driver to hurry. Mikol continued screaming.
Michael Valentine, a viewer with five years of firefighting experience, explained on Telegram that Mikol had third-degree burns on about 35% of his body, possibly more, based on the symptoms and the appearance of the injuries.
Community Reactions
Mikol had built a small but passionate community of investors who followed his daily streams. The incident sparked a heated discussion between those concerned for Mikol’s health and those focused solely on the value of the DARE token.
