“Affidaty S.p.A. and Hydea S.p.A. team up for a scientific project to converge BIM and Blockchain”
BIM, Building Information Modeling, allows optimizing the phases of the construction process through the use of interdisciplinary design software that allows interaction between the parties involved in the development of the project, from the conception of the idea to its complete realization and management.
In this context, the Blockchain strengthens the digital connection that is created between the actors participating in the construction process: in particular, it strengthens the bond created between the client, the financial structure, and the designers.
Through the Blockchain, BIM increases its digital potential, making every key step traceable, irrefutable, and certified.
Combining Blockchain with the construction industry through BIM means not only reducing the time for issuing authorizations, providing certainty at every authorization step but also the automatic mobilization of financial resources.
The research project, developed in collaboration between Affidaty and Hydea, involves creating a prototype of a Smart Contract programmed and configured to manage the Progress States of a particular BIM process, both in the design and construction phases, connecting them to the project’s financial structure.
The objectives of implementing Blockchain in the BIM field are:
- transparency of what is produced in terms of design;
- the abolition of disputes and lawsuits for work carried out and never paid;
- a significant reduction in corruption, as everything will be traceable and immutable over time;
- secure and immediate payments;
- job opportunities for young people;
- a reduction in unfinished works.
